Happy New Year, One and All

As this year draws rapidly to a close, I just want to express my gratitude to all the colleagues and friends who have supported me, and to my clients who have been wonderful. 2007 was a remarkable year and I look forward to wonderful things to come in 2008. I wish all of you a New Year filled with hope and joy, and I wish for the world a New Year of peace. On New Year's Eve in Spain, where I lived for two years, they eat one grape for each toll of the bell as the clock strikes midnight, then they drink champagne and party til dawn. The years have gone by and I may not party til dawn but I will think of all of you with gratitude as I eat my grapes and drink my champagne. Happy New Year to all!

I married my wife while she was here from Peru on a tourist visa. We were told that our case was an easy one, just fill out the paperwork. I thought well, ok but an advisor wouldn't hurt, and when we started filling out forms and compiling documents, our easy case was getting pretty complicated. We filled out the forms and had a meeting and when it was over there were so many corrections our forms, it looked like a math test I got a D- on once. If not for her red pencil, there is no doubt we would have had all kinds of delays and complications. We mailed the papers in July and my wife had her green card in November. Desde mis años como estudiante en la Universidad de Nevada, Reno, Margaret siempre me dio las recomendaciones más certeras en cuanto a emigración y mi estatus F-1.
